Cancellation September 2020

Due to these complicated and difficult times, Karen and I had to make the decision to cancel this year’s Substantially Retreat. Your safety and health is our priority. This decision did not come easily. We held out as long as we could.

Plans for next years Retreat are already in the works and we hope to have a zoom “Happy Hour“  in September with anyone that’s interested from the retreat, more of that information to come later but it would be great catch up and to see everyone’s beautiful faces..
Please stay safe, and healthy. We will miss you all!!!

Peace

This retreat for women will offer classes, seminars and relaxation opportunities from amazing women:

Angelique DuBois ~ Yoga~ Hatha Flow
Hello everyone
I continue my yoga education by taking Workshops from Master teachers whenever I can.  I also take as many classes as I can having fun with the many different disciplines that yoga has to offer.
To me the most important part of my practice is not my physical practice but taking my yoga "OFF THE MAT" and into the world.  This is why we should practice.   Our physical practice is done so that we can become still and centered quieting our minds.
I'm excited to be returning to the retreat this year & looking forward to leading your yoga classes.
This year I would like to offer a Hatha yoga Flow class concentrating on opening the hips and shoulders and building strength.  Class will run 1 hr. This will be a class that everyone can enjoy even if you've never done yoga before
I have practiced yoga for over 30 years and have a RYT 200 certificate through Yoga Alliance.
I look forward to the retreat and meeting all of you!

Namaste
Angelique

Tracy Walvatne
I found yoga by accident.  About 22 years ago I won a 3 month free membership to Total Balance gym in Fargo and thought, “What the heck, maybe it’s time to get in shape”.  Well, I tried just about every fitness offering they had: all the dance based classes, the strength circuit, the elliptical and treadmills and they all ended up the same: please don’t make me do that again!  But yoga class spoke to me.  Although it was hit and miss with the instructors the flow and mindfulness felt so right.  I knew I was hooked when in class with a 75 year old and an 85 year old who were still practicing and even more limber than I! I have led yoga classes for 12 years and I follow the Yoga Fit series.  I am certified in Level 3 yoga instruction and anatomy science.  The three things I love most about how I practice and lead yoga are: 1. it is accessible to all levels of practitioners 2. each time we step on the mat we enjoy a new practice – it is ever changing and always our own and 3. equal parts mind/body/spirit balance.

Brenda J Haugstad ~ Massage Therapy

30-minute massage appointments will be available Saturday morning, mid-afternoon, evening and  Sunday Morning - We will have a sign up sheet there.

Brenda J. Haugstad, Owner of YogiCare
Massage Therapist, Reflexologist & Thai Yoga Therapist

Brenda owns YogiCare and has been in business since 2004. After completing the 6 level program in Thai yoga therapy from Thai Yoga Bodywork of Minneapolis, Brenda became a Registered Thai Therapist (RTT) through THAI (Thai Healing Alliance International). In 2010, she traveled to Thailand for training with some of the masters in Thai massage. She also has training in Thai Foot Reflexology and is a Certified Nutrition Coach through Venice Nutrition. A Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT500) through Yoga Alliance, she attended the 500 hour yoga teacher training program at Yoga North in Duluth, MN. She is ND state licensed and Nationally Certified in both Massage therapy and Reflexology. She has been practicing massage andreflexology since 2003. She also earned a B.S. degree in Industrial Illustration from MSU.

Her belief is that a “yogi” resides in every individual. By caring for the “yogi” within, a person can achieve a state of peace and harmony within themselves. She finds giving bodywork such as massage similar to a dance in that it cleanses muscle tissue by increasing circulation and removing metabolic wastes from the body. Though the various modalities of bodywork Brenda provides, not only the physical body benefits but the mental and spiritual body as well resulting in an overall sense of balance. Once an individual can relax, the body has the ability to heal itself.
Her intention is to provide her clients with the best care possible for their well being.

Shauni E. Hekkanen ~ Jin Shin Jyutsu
Food as Medicine workshop

Food as medicine is a self-help practice and that is the spirit of this workshop:
In the fall we move into lung and large intestine time of the year, right after the harvest time.
We will look at the color coding for the seasons as it relates to your organs and how to choose your foods according to seasonal abundance & your specific symptoms.
I have a questionnaire that helps to target your symptoms and then by using the seasonal chapter in our Book: Healing with Whole Foods by Paul Pitcford
we can look at the dietary principles for healing the lung and large intestine to improve the health of all the organs by eating the proper foods!
It’s important to know the healing properties of foods so you can choose according to your individual need.
I will introduce the five elements Theory to help balance all your bodies organs.
We will also look at simple recipes and cooking tips for preparing foods.

You can buy the paper back Healing with Whole Foods  by Paul Pitchford for  $20 on Amazon.
This offers you a new level of choosing the foods that are right for your body. Rather than the out dated idea of dieting!
(this diet or that diet
